Brian Appleton

Dumped upon from a very great height?

Brian's on Tour!

Welcome to the Official Brian Appleton Interweb Homesite! Brian is a rock musicologist and (suspended) part time lecturer in Media Studies at a college of further education in the Newcastle under Lyme area. Originally from the Selly Oak area of Birmingham, he is in a destructive relationship with Wendy, an aromatherapist.

Brian claims to have been no less than pivotal in the development of popular music for more than thirty years, influencing artists as diverse as Rod Stewart, The Byrds, Steve Harley and Morrissey, his only reward being dumped upon from a great height. On this site you will find audio snippets from his first lecture, 'Brian Appleton's History of Rock and Roll', video of him performing the seminal 'My Turn To Be Poorly' and reviews of his lectures to date from quality dailies. Also available for download is a business (post)card detailing work Brian can be hired for.

Has Brian been the unsung guiding force behind countless musical movements in British and American pop, having as his only reward failure, oblivion and despair? Have a steady stream of artists stolen their trademark ideas, riffs and stage presence from this embittered Brummie? Have they then conspired to keep him in obscurity whilst claiming his intellectual property as their own? You decide.
